To Resist Fatality: Ianus

06/03/08  ||  Euthanatos

“Melodic Death Metal”. Nope, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to that name. But, bands even make a point of calling themselves that these days, so who am I to argue? One can’t forever be stuck in the eighties. Ever notice how these bands also have long names with out-of-the-blue phrases? As I Lay Dying. Every Time I Die. To Resist Fatality. My Chemical Romance. Whoops. My bad.

So, anyway, “melodic death metal” can either be something really interesting like At The Gates, or something really gay, like Norther, or Mors Principum Est. Actually, a lot of people like those two bands. I just felt like antagonizing you all. That’s right, I’m shit-stirring.

You can see I’m blatantly avoiding to actually write about To Resist Fatality. Well, it’s because the more I listen to “Ianus”, the less words come to me. I really have nothing to say. It sounds generic, it sounds like generic metalcore that you’d expect from a shitty American band. Except these guys are German. I think. I don’t care to google it. You shouldn’t either.

They’re not bad at what they do. If you like emo, dildos and a little metal thrown into the mix, I guess you could like it. I’m not really into emoness, or dildos. Nah, if I have to be butt-raped, god damn it, I’ll take it like a man! With a real 12-inch cock! Presumptuous defecation to sodomize her! Yeah, I have no idea what I’m talking about. There’s a part in “Guilt and Atonement” where the vocalist thinks it’s a good idea to stop shrieking like a raped school girl and let the guitar player sing like a 13 year old hot topic angst ridden teen. Good God, make it stop.

You know what, fuck you. I don’t care if this is my job. I’d rather eat shit, stare at dirt, drive through Mississippi than have to listen to this.

Gay.

The cover: Don’t care. Don’t care. Just. Don’t. Care.

2 fuck me Jesus out of 10.
